Amateur Radio Licensing in UAE

Amateur Radio Spectrum allocation, governance & licensing process is handled by UAE’s Federal Regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority – TRA in cooperation with Emirates Amateur Radio Society – EARS, the national association for Radio Amateurs in UAE.

Mandatory training, exams and practical sessions are conducted by Emirates Amateur Radio Society. Please contact EARS office for training, exam schedules and other related information.

Class A & B are the two levels of operating license provided by TRA to the individuals. UAE Citizens & Legal residents are eligible to apply.

Class A Operators have the highest operating privileges and are allowed to use HF, VHF bands.

Class B Operators are only allowed to use 2M (144 to 146 Mhz) Band.

Special Class licenses are issued to Clubs, Institutions and Universities & Colleges.
